Colorado U*Wrap DataColorado U*WRAP Data (This link will take you to a non-UWIG site) The wind monitoring data provided in this database is from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory's (NREL) Utility Wind Resouce Assessment Program. The database was prepared on behalf of the Utility Wind Interest Group (UWIG) by Electrotek Concepts under subcontract to NREL. The U*WRAP was initiated by the U.S. Department of Energy and was administered by the Utility Wind Interest Group (UWIG), to technically and financially support utilities conducting wind resource assessments. The goal of U*WRAP was to increase the quality and quantity of wind data available to utilities, thereby improving their ability to evaluate and integrate wind energy as an electric generation technology. Through the establishment of standard measurement procedures, this program compiled high quality data sets, which have enabled utility participants to evaluate resource-related wind energy feasibility issues among a large number of dispersed sites.
These guidelines are from the Wind Resource Assessment Handbook, prepared by AWS TrueWind under subcontract to NREL. This material was originally compiled for the preparation of the U*WRAP Handbook, developed in 1995. It is our hope that providing these guidelines to non-U*WRAP participants will add value to current wind resource assessment efforts. NoteThis data has been transferred to the University of North Dakota's Energy and Environmental Research Center. UWIG no longer retains responsibility for the maintenance of the data and other than providing this web page, provides no technical support for it. The center offers a significant amount of wind data online.
