June 24-25, 2010 - Minneapolis, Minnesota

Agenda

A series of wind integration studies conducted over the past 8 years has culminated in a wind integration study for the Eastern Interconnection, Western Interconnection, and ERCOT, as well as a number of smaller regional and sub-regional studies. What have the electric power and wind industries gleaned from these studies in terms of the data requirements, the model requirements, the critical assumptions, and the limitations of the methods and results? Have we gotten all we can from the current generation of studies? What should the next generation of studies concentrate on?

The Utility Wind Integration Group is convening this topical workshop to examine the state of the art of wind integration study models and methods. The workshop is intended for those who are deeply involved in the conduct and application of wind integration studies.

The workshop purposes are to:

  • Develop a better understanding of the strengths, weaknesses, and differences among the current generation of wind integration study models and methods.
  • Develop a better understanding of the needs for the next generation of wind integration studies and the associated models and methods.
  • Continue an ongoing dialog between the power system engineering and wind forecasting and engineering communities.

The primary audience for the workshop are participants in the UWIG Operating Impacts and Integration Study User Group, as well as electric power and wind industry personnel who perform wind integration studies or utilize their findings.

The workshop will be conducted as a series of discussion forums. To facilitate this format, attendance will be limited in size.
